What do I need before I start?

To update a contact by text message, you will need:

  • The alarm's phone number and Watch ID, both of which are printed on the box your alarm arrived in
  • The name and mobile or landline number of the contact you want to add or update

If you cannot find your Alarm ID or alarm phone number, get in touch with us and we can help.

How do I update an emergency contact?

Send a text message to the alarm's phone number using the following format:

[Alarm ID]A[position],[receive texts],[receive calls],[phone number],[name]

Where:

  • [Alarm ID] is the unique ID printed on your alarm's box
  • [position] is the contact's place in the call order (1 through 5)
  • [receive texts] is 1 if the contact should receive a text alert, or 0 if not
  • [receive calls] is 1 if the contact should receive a phone call, or 0 if not
  • [phone number] is the contact's number. For Australian mobile numbers, include the country code (e.g. +61412345678). For landlines, include the area code
  • [name] is a label for the contact (optional)

For example, to set the first contact to an Australian mobile number that receives both a text and a call, where 123456 is your Alarm ID:

123456A1,1,1,+61412345678,Jane

Alarm ID
Contact position (1–5)
Receive text alerts (1 = yes, 0 = no)
Receive calls (1 = yes, 0 = no)
Phone number
Contact name (optional)

How do I check what contacts are currently saved?

To see all contacts currently saved on the alarm, send the following text to the alarm's phone number:

[Alarm ID]A?

The alarm will reply with a list of the saved contacts.

Should I let my emergency contacts know about the alarm?

Yes. It is a good idea to let each of your emergency contacts know they may receive a call or text from your alarm's phone number. Ask them to save the number in their phone so they recognise it when an alert comes through.
