What Happens If Your Umps Home Alarm Loses Power?

What happens if my Home Alarm loses power?

Introduction

Your Hub should stay plugged into mains power at all times. If there's a power outage, your Hub has a built-in battery backup so it keeps working. If your Hub loses its internet connection instead, see what happens if my Home Alarm loses connection.

What happens during a power outage?

If the Hub loses power, it will switch to battery backup. You'll hear: "Your Hub has lost power and is running on battery. If it has been unplugged, plug it back in."

For the first 20 minutes, the Hub works normally on battery. This message repeats every 2 minutes.

After 20 minutes, the Hub enters a low-power mode to save battery. Your alarm still works during this time, though there may be a short delay when you raise an alert. The battery lasts for at least 40 hours in this mode.

To avoid disturbing you at night, the Hub won't play power-loss announcements between 9pm and 9am.

What if the battery gets low?

If the battery drops below 20%, you'll hear: "Your Hub has lost power and has less than 8 hours of battery. If it has been unplugged, plug it back in."

What happens when power comes back?

When power is restored, the Hub returns to normal straight away. You'll hear: "Your Hub has reconnected to power." For more tips on setting up and maintaining your device, see getting started with your Home Alarm.
