How to Raise an Alert with Your Umps Home Alarm

Raising an alert with the Umps Home Alarm

Introduction

This article explains how to raise an alert using your Umps Home Alarm, and what you can expect when you do.

How do I raise an alert on my Umps Home Alarm?

Press the button on your Pendant or the large grey alert button on the Hub. The Hub will light up pink and say, "Alert activated. To cancel the alert, press the flashing red cross."

What happens when an alert is raised?

After you press the button, you have 10 seconds to cancel. The cancel button on the Hub, marked with an X, will flash red. Press it to stop the alert and you will hear, "Alert cancelled."

If you do not cancel, the Hub sends the alert to your monitoring service. You will hear, "Alert sent." The main button will pulse pink while the call connects.

With Professional Response, an operator from the 24/7 monitoring centre will answer your call. With Family Response, your nominated contacts will be called in sequence until someone answers. Either way, you can speak through the Hub's built-in speaker and microphone.

When the call ends, the Hub returns to normal. For a period after the call, you can receive callbacks without starting a new alert.

What if I can't speak during an alert?

If you raise an alert and cannot speak, your responders will treat it as an emergency.

With Professional Response, the operator follows a no-voice process. This may include contacting your emergency contacts and arranging emergency services if needed.

With Family Response, your nominated contacts will receive calls and text messages alerting them that you have activated your alarm. They can call you back to check on you.

It's important to wear your Pendant at all times so you can raise an alert, even if you cannot call out.

What if I press the button by accident?

If it is within 10 seconds, press the cancel button marked with an X on the Hub and the alert will stop.

If the call has already connected, let the person on the line know it was unintentional and they will close the call.
