How to Wear and Care for Your Umps Alarm Pendant

Wearing and caring for your Home Alarm Pendant

Introduction

Your Pendant is the most important part of your Home Alarm. It can only help you if you're wearing it. This guide covers how to wear your Pendant, how to look after it, and how to get a replacement when needed.

Why is it so important to wear my Pendant?

The most common reason a personal alarm doesn't help in an emergency is that the person wasn't wearing it. That's why we encourage you to wear your Pendant at all times, including in the shower.

Your Pendant is designed to make this easy. It weighs just 8 grams, has a quick-dry lanyard, and never needs charging. You can wear it comfortably all day and night.

Can I wear it in the shower?

Yes, please do. Your Pendant is water-resistant and safe to wear in the shower. The lanyard dries quickly afterwards.

However, the Pendant is not fully waterproof. It can handle splashes and brief exposure to water, but extended time underwater can cause damage. Please take it off for baths and swimming pools.

How do I adjust the lanyard?

Your Pendant comes on a lanyard with a few helpful features:

  • Adjustable length. Use the small adjusters to set the length that's most comfortable for you.
  • Magnetic breakaway. The lanyard is designed to separate if it catches on something, reducing any risk of injury. If this happens, simply reconnect the magnetic clasp.

What if I don't want to wear a lanyard?

If you'd prefer to wear your button on your wrist, the Wrist Worn Button is a good alternative. It works the same way as the Pendant. Contact us if you'd like to switch or add one.

Does the Pendant need charging?

No. Your Pendant's battery lasts at least two years and cannot be recharged. When the battery is running low, the Hub will say: "A pendant has a critically low battery and needs replacing."

Contact us to order a replacement. When it arrives, you'll need to pair it to your Hub. See How do I pair a Button to my Hub? for instructions.

How do I look after my Pendant?

Your Pendant is a sturdy, low-maintenance device. There's nothing you need to do to maintain it. Just wear it.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't try to open it. The Pendant is sealed and the battery cannot be replaced at home.
  • Keep it within range. Your Pendant works up to 100 metres from the Hub. Walls and other materials may reduce this range. You can test the range of your Home Alarm at any time.
